Our Mission

SUN P.E.T.S. (Prevent Excess Through Sterilization) is an all volunteer nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to reducing the dog and cat overpopulation problem in Snyder, Union, and Northumberland (S-U-N) counties.

We also work to educate the public on responsible pet ownership and other related topics.

Milestone Reached - 20,000 Animals Sterilized!

We have reached a historic milestone with our low-cost spay/neuter program for pets of low-income individuals and families in Snyder, Union, and Northumberland counties. Through the work of volunteers, monetary donations from the public, regional grants, and the reduced cost services of local veterinarians, the 20,000th animal has been sterilized through our program.

Honoring A Friend: The Dr. Murphy's "Spay A Stray" Fund

Dr. Matthew Murphy of Keystone Mobile Veterinary Services was the first veterinarian to collaborate with SUN P.E.T.S. to provide mobile spay, neuter, and vaccination clinics in our area on a routine schedule. Over the past two years, his day-long clinics, scheduled by SUN P.E.T.S. every other month provided low-cost services to scores of companion and free-roaming cats in the Susquehanna Valley.
